Botta-Design DUO world timer with dual time zones

Watch manufacturer Botta-Design from Königstein presents its latest design: the DUO dual time-zone watch with improved readability.

The multiple award-winning Botta-Design DUO world timer is the first dual time-zone watch to be based on the one-hand watch principle. When designing the watch face in 2011, the manufacturer decided to go for the maximum possible colour contrast – yellow on black.

Such a high degree of contrast allows the wearer to tell the time even at a casual glance.

Nonetheless, situations can arise when this contrast is not enough – such as in poor light conditions, for example. According to the latest findings in perception research, the human eye reacts with great sensitivity to the colour green, especially in low light conditions. To improve readability in such situations, Botta-Design has chosen this contrast colour for the new additional version of the DUO dual time-zone watch.

The quadrants and the tip of the 24-hour hand are clearly highlighted in contrast to the dark face of the watch. To make it absolutely obvious which hand is which, the striking 12-hour hand is made of finely structured stainless steel. This surface allows the hand to absorb any residual light from the surroundings and reflect it back to the wearer.

Thanks to these two measures, the wearer will be better able to tell the time, even when lighting conditions are poor. What is more, the new clever use of colour gives an overall impression of a highly precise technical instrument. From a technical point of view, the new green-black DUO is identical to the yellow-black version, which is also still available. This means that both offer benefits such as a freely and infinitely adjustable second time zone, which allows half-hour and quarter-hour time zones to be displayed.

According to the manufacturer , the new DUO will be available for shipment from the beginning of September – until then, advanced orders placed on the Botta-Design website will qualify for a 50 Euro discount on the green version of the DUO.
