GCL states Cuff Debuts First Fashion Wearables Collection

Silicon Valley, CA, February 19, 2014 – Cuff, the company leading a fashion revolution in wearable technology, today unveiled a first-of-its-kind assortment of fashion wearables: smart-technology accessories that people will actually want to wear.

The debut Cuff collection consists of bracelets, necklaces, and key chains in a variety of finishes and textures. Each of these pieces can function as a personal protection and connection alert system thanks to Cuff’s innovative technology platform and component called the CuffLinc. The tiny, wireless CuffLinc can be removed and tucked into any of the pieces in the Cuff collection. It connects to your phone to send alerts and receive notifications. An alert is sent to the wearer’s trusted network with just a squeeze of any of the Cuff pieces.

„The new Cuff collection wearables are more chic than geek, wrapping smart technology into elegant, fashionable pieces that we all WANT to wear,“ said Deepa Sood, Cuff founder and former VP of Product Development at luxury retailer Restoration Hardware. „We don’t believe that we should be forced to choose between smarts and beauty when it comes to wearable accessories.“

CuffLinc never needs recharging and it can power any of the future collections that Cuff releases. Once Cuff circles are set up, there’s almost no maintenance. Rather than have to plug in Cuff and charge, you just simply replace the CuffLinc wireless component once a year.

Cuff also plans to license CuffLinc to other fashion retailers and designers so they can bring their own pieces to the fashion wearables revolution. The unique CuffLinc technology will also allow Cuff to launch additional features for Cuff fashion wearables via updates to the Cuff mobile app. And third party developers can build and create their own unique features for the Cuff platform that can be powered by the CuffLinc.

„What we wear is a very personal choice – you need options and you want what you wear to reflect your style and fit into your life,“ Sood said. „That is what we are providing with Cuff — options in wearable tech. We’re introducing an entire collection because everyone is different and we want Cuff to fit into many lifestyles and situations. We’re also going to bring our CuffLinc technology to the entire fashion ecosystem so all retailers and designers can create fashionable and wearable options.“

Pieces in the debut Cuff fashion wearable collection include:

The Lena – a tapered leather bracelet with metal clasp available in black and antiqued bronze

The Carin – a shredded leather band with antiqued accents available in ivory/brown or pewter/black

The Mia – an everyday metal Cuff available in shiny gold-tone or textured stingray

The Selah – a statement metal bracelet with a hinged Cuff available in gold-tone or silver-tone

The Lucky – a 7-link stretch Cuff available in gold-tone or silver-tone

The Lisa – a simple 18″ filigree pendant in gold-tone or silver-tone; comes with two free overlay screens in matching tone

The Soleil – an opera-inspired 24″ bead chain with gold accents; comes with 2 overlay screens and is available in gold-tone or silver-tone

The DVB – an athletic sportsband with brass accents in a matte-black finish

The G- a simple leather button-snap keychain

The J – statement metal and leather keychain available in gold-tone or silver-tone

Cuff looks beautiful and is powerfully smart. Loved ones who are wearing Cuffs will feel their Cuff vibrate, notifying them that help is needed. The message is also delivered to the Cuff mobile app, so loved ones can instantly see the exact location of the sender. The more people added to a Cuff user’s circle, the more people will be at hand when help is needed. The safety and security notification capability is the first of many smart functions that will be delivered through CuffLinc.

„We think Cuff offers the most streamlined personal security solution on the market, but it’s not just for emergencies,“ Sood said. „It’s also a great way to just let people know you are trying to reach them and you need a response. Because you’re wearing Cuff, it’s easy to send and receive notices without digging out your phone – which, if you’re like me, is often at the bottom of a huge handbag.“

All the pieces in the Cuff collection can be pre-ordered today from the Cuff website (cuff.io). Cuff will deliver finished pieces this fall.

About Cuff Cuff is bringing a fashion revolution to the world of wearable technology. The company launched the first ever fashion wearables collection in February 2014. The smart technology that powers all Cuff wearables is its patent pending CuffLinc, a tiny wireless component that can be tucked into any piece in the Cuff collection. Users simply tap the CuffLinc and instantly an alert is delivered to their chosen trusted network, providing security and an increased level of protection and connection in any surrounding or situation. The CuffLinc technology will be licensed to other jewelry retailers and designers so they can also create wearable technology products that are as smart as they are beautiful.
