New production site of Matrix in Kuala Lumpur

Antwerp, March 2018 – Matrix expands its manufacturing capability in Kuala Lumpur with the addition of a third manufacturing building on its current 6 acre site. The new building of 100,000 m2, is solely dedicated to the manufacturing of flavours. It comprises of 3 manufacturing stories, each floor to support powder, liquid production and warehousing. Its 5 stories of offices, now houses offices, QA/QC laboratories, sensory evaluation and training. Taking the opportunity to design-from-scratch, the manufacturing facility also houses its first semi auto-dosing machine for key compounding of flavours, and streamlining the production to move towards optimization and efficient production.

Dr. Tina Tan, Senior General Manager for the group comments ‘It is a momentous achievement for Matrix to build this facility, to support the continued growth of our flavours and fragrances division. With this state-of-the-art facility, we are able to better serve our customers through maximizing productivity, streamlining manufacturing processes in a cost-effective manner, whilst maintaining strict quality flavours that our customers are used to. We have always aimed to be a leading flavour manufacturer in the region – this building represents a step closer towards that vision.’

The addition of new facilities is attributed to the growing needs of the fast expansion of the company’s sales through more than 54 countries, and the development of new product ranges. Matrix offers a range of flavourings and natural flavourings, in all forms; water and oil soluble, dry-blended and spray dried powders, emulsions, seasonings and their special heat-resistant technology flavours, the emulco range. Matrix embarked on offering natural flavours in early 2017 – a requirement for market penetration into Europe and America. Matrix also possesses manufacturing capability in Cochin, India and its sales offices in Myanmar and Belgium. The Malaysian flavour house is FSSC 22000 certified and manufactures in a fully Halal dedicated facility.

Dr. Tan adds ‘I would like to take this opportunity to thank all involved in building this facility, particularly my colleagues who worked with utmost dedication to ensure minimal disruption to our customers. A core value of Matrix is building partnerships with its suppliers and its customers over the long term; this would not have been possible if not for the continued support of our customers and suppliers alike – thank you.’
