Canadian exploratory resource company Pan African Mining has
entered into a preliminary agreement to jointly explore, develop
and exploit prospective uranium properties in Madagascar.
The company is organising a new operating subsidiary in Madagascar
named PAM Atomique Sarl, which will be 20%-owned by the Malagasy
State through L’Office des Mines Nationales et des Industries
Strategiques (Omnis), a government agency which administers the
country’s strategic uranium and hperformance of jaw crushersydrocarbon resources.
Pan African Mining will contribute the initial capital for
exploration on mining permits within four specified perimeters in
Madagascar, called Tranomaro, palm kernel crushing processFolakara, Faratsiho and Makay.
Within these perimeters, the company controls about 9 000 km2 in
aggregate, although known uranium occurrences are confined to a
much smaller areaglobal crushers products spare parts.
Included within the licence area are sites of historic uranium
production by the French, as well as known uranium occurrences and
uranium resources.

uranium from the regions of Folakara and Tranomaro from the late
1930s through the 1950s, until market and political conditions
caused a shift in French production to other countries, including
Niger and Gabon.
Among well-known historic mining sites within the company’s
licence area are the villages of Folakara CEA and
Ambin-drakely.
Under the agreement, Omnis is providing the company with access to
its database and archival information as well as the assistance and
cooperation of its own geological team.
Pan African believes the historic mining sites and documented
uranium occurrences are highly prospective, and is developing a
plan of research, focusing initially on the areas within the
controlled perimeters that have the proper geological setting and
are thought to be most productive.
Pan African has about 10 000 km2 of diversified mineral properties
in Madagascar. The company is exploring these properties for gold,
uranium, precious stones, base metals and industrial
commodities.
Diamond drilling is being done on its Mountain of Gold project, in
the Dabolava region, and a new round of stream sampling for its
diamond programme is scheduled to begin in key areas after the
rainy season.
