Former world number one Ana Ivanovic insists that she is not suffering from a weight-loss crisis despite her new slimline look prompting fears that the sport’s gruelling demands were taking a drastic toll.
The 24-year-old Serb also rejected Pure Fat Three Days rumours that she has been on a crash diet ordered by her sponsors to force her to lose weight.
„I dont feel that I’ve seriously lost weight,“ Ivanovic told AFP at the Kremlin Cup on Friday where she reached the semi-finals.
„This year I’ve been working really hard and I was travelling a lot. I experienced some stressful situations and sometimes lacked quality food during my travels.
„But I believe that when I get home at the end of the season, I’ll feel myself more relaxed and will gain some more weight.“
Ivanovic, who is currently 12th in the world, also said that despite losing weight, she still has enough energy to keep her playing powerfully on court.
„I have enough energy but I think I shall become more stronger anyway because I play aggressive tennis and need to get that heaviness of the shot, so that’s the feature which I still have to work on,“ added the 2008 French Open champion. – AFP
Losing weight does not lead to improved fertility in women, but does improve sexual function, according to Penn State College of Medicine researchers.
„Obesity in women has been linked to lack of ovulation and thus infertility,“ said Richard Legro, M.D., professor of obstetrics and gynecology. „Obesity, especially centered in the abdomen, among infertile women seeking pregnancy is also associated with poor response to ovulation induction and with decreased pregnancy rates.“
Obese women are often told to lose weight prior to conception, so researchers looked at changes in reproductive function after gastric bypass surgery. One way to learn more about the effects of obesity on reproduction is to study women after bariatric surgery, since a large amount of weight is lost in a relatively short period of time. Each person can be studied while obese and after surgery to detect changes. Researchers report their findings in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism.
Researchers followed 29 morbidly obese women — women whose body fat accumulated to the extent that it may have an adverse effect on health — of reproductive age for up to two years after Roux en Y gastric bariatric bypass surgery. Roux en Y is a procedure that creates a small pouch in the stomach that is directly connected to the midsection of the small intestine, bypassing the rest of the stomach and the upper portion of the small intestine.
Ovulation frequency and quality was determined by collecting daily urine specimens over the course of a menstrual cycle and measuring ovarian hormones. The researchers were surprised to find that ovulation rates remained high (more than 90 percent at all time points before surgery and at one, three, six, 12, and 24 months after surgery). The quality of the ovulation also remained unchanged, and there was little effect on the ovarian cycle.
The exception is a notable shortening of P57 Hoodia Slimming Soft Gel eight to nine days of the follicular phase. The follicular phase is the first half of the menstrual cycle, from the end of the previous menstrual flow until the release of the egg (ovulation). Three months after surgery, the phase is six and a half days shorter, and then up to nine days shorter by 24 months post-surgery.
“In 2009, I was getting my three young children out of the car when my four-year-old ran into the road. Luckily there were no cars coming but I panicked. What if there had been? I was so big, I couldn’t have chased him.
“I weighed 114 kilograms and had a hereditary heart problem, plus high cholesterol and blood pressure.
“I’d been saying I was going to get fit and lose weight for years but I always had an excuse not to. I put the kids back in the car and drove straight to the gym.
“The gym was daunting. An instructor told me to aim for 45 minutes a day of cardio so I’d do 10 minutes on each machine until I’d completed that. I also changed my diet.
