Singer and owner of Colour clothing brand Nandi Mngoma says she feels liberated now that she no longer has to be secretive about her pregnancy.
Nandi who revealed her pregnancy in style during a Mercedes-Benz Fashion week event held at Nelson Mandela Square in Sandton on Wednesday, says she is excited about becoming a mother.
She debuted her fashion line at the same event and received rave reviews.
“First of all it has been such a riveting experience. Our show yesterday was amazing in so many ways. Colour is a concept I thought about so many years ago, but to see it come to fruition is amazing and, of course Inga Madyibi, is such an amazing designer. To be able to represent my continent throughout the globe with such a clothing line was amazing and yesterday was the beginning of that – us launching the range,” Nandi says.
She admits that 2016 has been an overwhelming year in a positive way, as she has also grown her clientele.
But more than her fashion label debuting at the fashion week, her baby bump is what really stole the show.
Nandi has kept the pregnancy a secret from sometime, even though there was wide speculation.
“I’ll be very honest, first of all I feel very liberated, I feel like I was in hiding,” she says.
She adds that she is grateful to the people who are close to her who managed to respect her privacy and did not share the news with anyone.
Unlike most people, Nandi is having a very easy pregnancy, she tells DESTINY.
“I’ll be honest, I think, because I’m pretty much healthy. I’ve been very fortunate. I hear of the stories, I’m lucky I have a sister and dad who are doctors, because they’ve let me know. I know how difficult pregnancy can be,” she says.
Nandi says she always wanted to have her first child in her late 20s and, fortunately, her plans are working out the way she wanted.
“People who know me, know that I always wanted to have my kid in my late 20s and that was from a health perspective, because you are generally physically more capable of caring a baby in your 20s – of course you can carry a child in your 30s. It’s so funny how everything has turned out,” says the 28-year-old.
She adds that having a child with her husband Zakes Bantwini is what the experience more exciting.
“Honestly its like a dream come true and also to have a child with someone you really love. My husband is amazing. She’s gonna have an amazing father, and that excites me. I’m just excited that I am bringing life to this world.”
Nandi’s only fear is that she will have to change her sleeping schedule when her daughter arrives. She plans to approach parenting by showing her kids that she is not perfect, but will love them unconditionally.
Nandi recently tied the knot with her musician partner Zakes Bantwini. The artist has also shared the news that they are expecting on Instagram.Read more at:bridesmaid dresses australia | http://www.marieaustralia.com
