New York, NY, January 31, 2014 – The Middle College National Consortium is excited to announce that Professor David T. Conley will give the keynote address at MCNC’s 22nd annual Winter Leadership Conference. Professor Conley is widely respected for his research and leadership in the area of college and career readiness. He is the founder, chief executive officer, and chief strategy officer of EPIC (Education Policy Improvement Center) as well as Professor of Educational Policy and Leadership, and founder and director of the Center for Educational Policy Research (CEPR) at the University of Oregon. Professor Conley’s groundbreaking book, College Knowledge: What It Takes for Students to Succeed and What We Can Do to Get Them Ready is used as a reference in high schools throughout the country. At the MCNC Winter Leadership Conference Professor Conley will speak to the role of leadership in implementing the Common Core.
The Middle College National Consortium will hold its Winter Leadership Conference from February 12, 2014 to February 15, 2014 at the Newport Beach Hyatt Regency. The theme of this year’s conference will be Collaborative Leadership in Middle/Early Colleges. Two leading staff developers from the Institute for Student Achievement, Lance Ozier and Jonathan Katz, will conduct a series of workshops on supporting students in literacy and mathematics in the Common Core classroom. Additionally, NCREST (National Center for Restructuring Education, Schools & Teaching, Teachers College, Columbia University) will also conduct a series of workshops on collaborative leadership in areas such as student support, college course taking in high school, and effective college-high school relationships.
