Columbia, MD, January 11, 2014 – Open Facebook and there it is. That video of a friend’s cat, sporting a top hat, dancing across the room. Next up is a photo of your cousin’s three kids using their dad as a trampoline in a new version of „Hop on Pop.“ Look out, Dr. Seuss; could the instantaneous sharing of activities on smartphones and tablets be replacing those good old children’s stories? The folks at American Story Channel don’t think so.
While cat videos are fun, the team at American Story Channel believes that technology can provide an even richer experience for today’s digital age children. It’s an opportunity to deliver creative, high-quality stories that will entertain, inform, and delight. To make this happen, the company has launched a project to assemble the brightest and best writers across the planet.
American Story Channel, a Columbia, MD-based company, is developing an innovative platform, known as Doodle Islands Storyland, that combines traditional storytelling with new technology. The experience-based approach heightens engagement, increasing the opportunities for entertainment, game playing, and hidden learning-available at the touch of a screen.
The company launched the Doodle Islands Writers Project to assemble imaginative children’s stories from a variety of writers, ranging from amateurs to published authors. Those stories will be used to entertain and inform children, age 3-5, with a multi-level, interactive experience on tablets and smartphones. When the company’s goal of 1,000 stories is reached, American Story Channel will give $1,000 to a children’s hospital, learning center, or research facility, chosen by a vote of the story submitters themselves.
American Story Channel’s unique endeavor begins with a widespread search for talented writers who have stories to share. According to company founder and visionary Harun Kazaz, „So many people have a story to tell, but few get the opportunity. Our new website makes it easy for writers from every walk of life to submit stories and receive recognition for their talent-that’s why we like to call it the ‚Writers Project.‘ And, the submissions are just the start-many approved stories will end up in Doodle Islands Storyland, where they will be published and distributed through multiple channels.“
The company encourages authors and amateur writers to submit stories to help with achieving the goal of 1,000 submissions. Writers who are interested in submitting stories are invited to visit the Doodle Islands Storyland Writers Project at: http://www.doodleislandswriters.com.
