Alberta Ferretti wants women to make her dresses their own

The Italian designer is launching her Alberta Ferretti Limited Edition 2017 line in Paris on Tuesday (04Jul17), which is made up of 18 demi-couture creations such as a sheer minidress with white lace embroidery and a gold silk gown with a pleated bodice.

Model Natasha Poly poses in the collection for promotional photos, with Ferretti aiming to give customers a selection of garments they can put their own stamp on.

“It’s a personal attitude, I feel that a woman should make the dress her own, interpret it and show her character,” the designer told WWD. “I live the life of women, they are my muses. The same dress can be worn in different ways by different women, each with their own personality.”

Further noting she kept the silhouettes “simpler and more sophisticated” for this collection, the dressmaker added, “My goal is to make women beautiful, but they must also look contemporary and move with ease.”

Each creation has a different name, such as a plum silk satin gown titled Anemone Liquide (Liquid Anemone) thanks to its lightweight texture. There’s plenty of embroidery and crystals to be seen too, all standing out against the deep shades.

“I am fascinated by India, but these are more suggestions of the East. I wanted to avoid costumey references,” she added of the influence behind the range. “I aim to bring harmony to the collection.”

Ferretti’s demi-couture Limited Edition offerings launched six years ago and last year she presented her first ever runway show for the range during Paris Couture Week.

Discussing what made her decide to bring it to the forefront, the designer told Vogue last May,

“I thought it was time to give a real identity to Limited Edition. When I started it in 2011, I only presented it once a year as a capsule created to meet the demand of my customers for both evening and cocktail attire.”Read more at:backless formal dresses | red formal dresses
