San Francisco, CA, February 17, 2014 – Metaswitch Networks is proud to be among the shortlisted nominees for the 19th annual Global Mobile Awards.
Metaswitch was shortlisted for its work on Project Clearwater in the category of Best Mobile Technology Solution for Growing, Smaller or Independent Networks. Project Clearwater was conceived and implemented as a very high-performance, very scalable, flexible, generic SIP communications engine.
Full information on the Global Mobile Awards can be found here.
„There are hundreds of mobile network operators around the world with less than 1 million customers,“ says Dave Reekie, general manager of Metaswitch’s Open Source Communications Business Unit (OBU). „For these operators, Project Clearwater is really attractive because it combines the economics of over-the-top (OTT) style service platforms with the standards compliance and reliability expected of telco-grade communications network solutions.
„Project Clearwater leans heavily on established design patterns for building and deploying massively scalable Web applications,“ Reekie adds. „Because of this, it is both economical for smaller operators and massively scalable for operators who need to provide voice, video and messaging services to millions of users.“
The winners of the Global Mobile Awards will be announced at Mobile World Congress 2014, which is taking place Feb. 24-27 at the Fira Gran Via in Barcelona. The Global Mobile Awards ceremony will take place Tuesday, Feb. 25 at 2:30 p.m. in Hall 4, Auditorium 1.
Reekie and other Metaswitch executives will discuss the company’s new Clearwater Core product, a hardened, supported subset of Project Clearwater, at Mobile World Congress. For more information on Metaswitch’s activities at Mobile World Congress, visit: http://www.metaswitch.com/mwc-14.
