Dealer restructures its KZN operations

Consolidated Rock Machinery (CRM) has restructured its
Kwazulu-Natal operations to expand its market share and enhance
service levels in this region.

The Kwazulu-Natal branch recently expanded its service department
and parts division at its Pinetown office, which will cater for the
aftermarket sector of the company’s business in the region.

According to Brian Rachman, manager of sales and technical support
at CRM/Bobcat Kwazulu-Natal, „We now have a population of over 800
machines operating in Kwazulu-Natal, which necessitated a full
ssmall underground mining equipment priceervice and parts centre in close proximity to our customers‘
sites.“ „Our service department has dedicated and trained personnel
specialising in the repair, servicing and support of specific
product lines,“ he adds.

CRM has restrublock making machines price in chinactured its aftermarket operation into focused service
units in line with the company’s strategy to improve and streamline
service levels. The firm holds the exclusive distributorship for
most of Southern Africa for Ingersoll-Rand’s construction,
quarrying an250 tph crushing plant priced mining equipment.

The divisions of CRM include Bobcat SA, exclusive distributor of
the Ingersoll Rand Bobcat range of skid-steer loaders, excavators,
compact track loaders and telescopic handlers.

The Construction and Mining division of CRM supplies a wide range
of Ingersoll Rand compressors, portable generators, hydraulic and
pneumatic rotary percussion drilling rigs.

The Demolition division distributes the Montabert range of
hydraulic hammers, Brokk robotic demolition machines and locally-
manufactured pedestal-mounted rock-breaking systems. The Industrial
division is responsible for the supply of the Ingersoll Rand range
of utility vehicles from Club Car.

The four recently-established service units will focus on
aftermarket services with dedicated and trained personnel
specialising in the repair, servicing and support of specific
product lines.

Gordon Jackson, director of CRM, comments, „The rapid growth of the
group over the past 18 months has necessitated the change from a
single service centre to focused individual product units. „To
ensure continuity from sales through to aftermarket services, our
product support managers will act as liaison officers between the
customer and company. „To support our restructuring into dedicated
service units, we have upgraded our service fleet to transport
equipment from site to our service centre and invested in equipment
to tool up our service areas,“ he adds.

More emphasis will also be placed on internal staff and customer
training in order to effect a policy of preventive maintenance to
all equipment.

CRM has implemented these changes at its head office in Alrode, in
Gauteng, and intends to roll out the same strategy at its service
centres in Durban, Richards Bay and Cape Town, with Witbank opening
soon.
