Montgomery County 4-H contestants in Consumer Clothing and Fashion Revue owned the runway stage Saturday evening in the 4-H Building as they flaunted self-designed outfits and apparel.

The annual fashion and design competition featured contestants ranging from third grade to upcoming college freshmen and captured the attention of a standing-room only audience.

The judges announced the winners of the various Consumer Clothing and Fashion Revue categories, including Casual Wear, Dress-Up Wear, Suits and Coats, Separates, Formals, and Free Choice.

Paige Wininiger earned the Senior Fashion Revue Award with a pink polyester formal dress she designed that took most of the summer to make.

“I created a formal dress that could be transformed into a normal sun dress,” Wininger said. “It can be used as night or day dress or a formal or casual dress.”

Wininger, an eight-year 4-H member, has participated in Fashion Revue for most of her 4-H career and was honored to win the Senior Fashion Revue Award.

“It is a very big honor [winning the award], because I have been working towards this part of 4-H,” Wininiger said. “It was a goal I set for myself and finally accomplished.”

The judges also honored Shannon Hadley and Tiffany Ellington. Hadley earned the Senior Consumer Award, and Ellington won the Junior Fashon Revue Award.

Karin Kerber Odle, Chairman of Senior Fashion Revue, said there were more contestants in this year’s competition than in previous years and that the judges were pleased with the entries.

“We were thrilled with what the girls and boys created,” Odle said. “They pushed their creative limits and produced some outstanding outfits for Consumer Clothing and Fashion Revue.

“Both of these projects are life skills. The boys and girls who sew really have an inside depth on how to sew a button or alter a garment, whether they want to be designers or if they just want to make curtains down the road. The options are endless.”
