my-PV launches AC-THOR 9s power controller for hot water and space heating from photovoltaics on the market

Neuzeug, Austria, April 24th, 2019. The new power controller AC-THOR 9s can control both electrical room heating and water heaters up to 9 kilowatts of power linearly. It controls three-phase heating elements or up to three electrical heat sources and can even supply several heating circuits and regulate them independently of each other.

Because it communicates with inverters, battery systems and smart home controls, the intelligent power controller always knows exactly how much excess solar power is available. In energy-optimised buildings, the device replaces the entire fluid-based heating technology. Missing energy comes from the grid. Alternatively, the solar power manager can also be integrated in conventional buffer storage tanks. The new power controller is no larger than its „little brother“ AC-THOR, which my-PV launched in 2017 for detached and multi-family homes.

Ideal for high-performance PV systems and advanced heating requirements

AC-THOR 9s opens up numerous new areas of application due to its high performance. For example, residential buildings with larger solar power systems can further increase their self-consumption by storing more heat. In addition, the new power controller is ideal for use in agriculture, hotels and commercial buildings, where, for example, high-performance PV systems require a lot of heat for cleaning, manufacturing or wellness.

my-PV at Intersolar Europe

AC-THOR 9s will be available from July. my-PV will present the solar power manager at its booth at Intersolar Europe in Munich, from May 15th to 17th, hall C4, booth number 110.

Manufacturer my-PV GmbH from Neuzeug, Austria, was founded in 2011 by former executives of a solar inverter company. Since then, it has become an important producer for hot water with photovoltaics. my-PV started its first research project in the field of storage technology in 2012. In 2013, my-PV invented DC ELWA for hot water with photovoltaics (ELWA stands for electric hot water preparation) and successfully positioned it on the market in 2014.

ELWA was followed in 2015 by AC ELWA alternating current model, which converts excess electricity from grid-connected photovoltaic systems into heat. Since September 2016, AC ELWA-E has been available, which allows perfect surplus management in combination with battery systems, inverters and energy management systems. With AC-THOR, the company goes one step further and also utilizes PV-power for space heating.
