iSayHello App – Travel dictionary and translator

iSayHello – don’t go on your Summer Vacation without it: the Talking Travel Dictionary for the iPhone, the iPad and Android!

It’s almost that time of year again: summer vacation. Distant and foreign lands are calling – unfortunately in a language that most of us are not familiar with. The travel app iSayHello, for iOS and Android , will break down the language barrier. It features a collection of the most important phrases that are being used when on vacation – presented in eleven lessons, translated into many desired languages. An integrated online translator rounds out the various iSayHello apps, covering more than 100 language combinations.

We all know the situation: we get to our vacation spot and would really like to talk to the waiter in the restaurant, the staff at the hotel or the seller at the market. Unfortunately, when abroad this does not always work right away, since a foreign language is required and we, as a tourist, are not familiar with the appropriate vocabulary.

However, quick and competent help may be called up via the smartphone by simply installing the right iSayHello universal app on the iPhone, the iPod touch or the iPad. iSayHello may also be installed as an app on Android smartphones.

Each iSayHello app covers a certain language combination, e.g. „English – German“ or „English – Italian“.

The App Stores feature more than 100 iSayHello apps, thereby covering the same amount of language combinations. Languages like English, French, Spanish, Portuguese (European and Brazilian), Polish, Italian, Russian, Japanese, German and Chinese are included. There is even a „Bavarian“ version – very important for getting along at the Munich Oktoberfest.

Each app provides a catalog that contains 11 subject-linked lessons. Areas such as „Welcome“, „Shopping“, „Dining“, „Soccer“ (appropriate for the upcoming European Championships), „Flirting“ or „Emergency“ are being covered. All lessons are accessible completely offline. This way they may easily be uses at vacation spots, without incurring expensive roaming charges.

„Where is the train station?“ – „May I take you home?“ – „That’s quite expensive!“ – „Do you take credit cards?“

Naturally iSayHello is familiar with lots of phrases that are being used when on vacation. The lessons are being presented in a tabular format. To begin with, a phrase is shown in the native language of the user. The right hand side will then display the appropriate translation in the target language. A simple tap on the play button will see to it that the translated sentence is being spoken out loud – by a native speaker of the target language. Not only does the app help to find the right words – it also helps to pronounce them correctly. Another great feature: if it has to be really fast, the iPhone or Android smartphone is able to read the necessary sentence out loud – so the person that is being addressed is able to hear it directly.

In order to be able to find individual phrases quickly and easily, the app lets the user store them as a favorite – if so desired.

Christine Handschuh of ADMOVI GmbH: „In addition to the 11 lessons the app also offers an online translator that will assist in searching for single words or phrases that are not yet included in the lessons. However, this module does require an Internet connection.“
